State Property, an original song
State Property
My friend and songwriter extraordinaire, Michelle Grua came over one day last fall after hearing about the Kevlar® kimono project and played me this song, just her and her guitar. She wrote State Property on election day last fall after feeling frustrated by the state of women’s health policy, and all the comments that were being made by politicians about how women couldn’t be trusted to make their own decisions, etc. She was reacting to some of the same triggers that put me on this path to create the Kevlar® kimono. I was deeply moved by the song then, but in the past few months, Michelle and her friends, musicians Doris Muramatsu, JJ Jones, and Nate Borofsky have been working on recording the song. It’s finally ready for release to the public, and we’re quite excited to be able to post it here on the Kevlar® Kimono Project website! Contact Michelle
