Silkscreening the organza
The next step in the process is silkscreening images onto the silk organza yardage that will be used to make the collages that surround the photographs. I’ve used images from paper collages that I made long ago (those images presented their own technical challenges.) The combination of two layers of this semi-transparent fabric will create the unique combinations that represent each person’s individual situation, and why such a personal decision can’t be legislated.
I am printing 15 yards of organza in order to come up with about 300 unique combinations of pattern. One yard at a time, I make 20 prints on each yard. Though it seems like a monumental task, it’s going pretty fast. Yesterday, I printed five yards, and hope to be finish another four yards before today is over.
After the printing is done, I still have to rinse, wash and press the yardage, which will be another full day of work.
