Kevlar undervest completed!
The Kevlar® was actually fairly simple to sew with, aside from being kind of bulky, though it did fray like crazy. The fraying problem was solved by binding most of the seams. I used leftover snippets of the blue kimono fabric for those bindings, as well as for the collar piece.
The silk kimono will almost completely cover this component of the piece, but it was important to me that it actually be there, and be beautifully made.
Next thing is to finish the silk kimono, which I’ll be working on the rest of the weekend and probably into next week.
It’s gratifying to see something finished…Here’s the original sketch for the garment that I made a few days ago. It’s pretty obvious that my sewing skills are better than my drawing skills!
